New Delhi: Oil companies will be in a position to consider reducing petrol and diesel prices if international crude oil prices remain stable, Union Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri has said. He has said that the upcoming quarterly results of oil companies will be good. Responding to various questions on petrol prices at the BJP headquarters, Puri said he was not in a position to make any announcement on the issue  at the moment.

"We will see what can be done going forward. Puri said state-owned oil marketing companies (OMCs) performed well in the last quarter. They (companies) have made up for some of the losses. He has performed his corporate responsibility very well. As we move forward, we will see what can be done in this regard." The Union minister said the Narendra Modi-led government has ensured that there is no increase in oil prices from April 22, 2022.

He further said that the government will further ensure that customers do not face problems. Accusing the opposition of indulging in "rewari politics", Puri said one can offer everything for "free", but in such a situation, the politics of freebies enters dangerous territory. Let us know that the prices of petrol and diesel have been stable for the last one year and now if the prices of crude oil remain stable in the international market, then the prices of petrol and diesel in India can see a decline, which will be a relief to the common man.
