Prayagraj: A PIL has been filed in the Allahabad High Court questioning the Islamic education imparted in madarsas in Uttar Pradesh. The petition has sought a ban on madarsas, saying that the future of children is being played with by teaching the lesson of bigotry in madarsas. In the name of religious education, children are being confused. They are being filled with hatred and bigotry. In such a situation, these madarsas should be banned.
At the same time, the petition has demanded that while banning the education of a particular religion in madarsas, they should be included in the basic and secondary education department of Uttar Pradesh, while the higher institutions in madarsas should be linked to the UGC, so that the children taking admission here can get a general and employment-oriented education. They can get such an education, which can build the personality in them properly and make it easier for them to get employment. Instead of developing hatred and radical thinking in children, there should be positive emotions and they can contribute to nation building.
The PIL has been filed on behalf of Allahabad-based woman lawyer Sahar Naqvi. The PIL said that what is being served in the name of religious education in most of the madarsas of UP is not only going to spoil the future of the children, but it is also very fatal for the country and the society. The PIL has sought a public interest litigation from the High Court to ban madarsas operating in UP and complete their closure, merge madarsas with basic and secondary education departments.
