Kolkata: The case of not including the West Bengal tableau based on great freedom fighter Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose in the Republic Day parade has reached the Calcutta High Court. A PIL has been filed in the High Court which is likely to come up for hearing today. State CM Mamata Banerjee has attacked the Central government on Sunday over the issue. Mamata Banerjee said the Union Government cannot brush aside its mistake of not including the state's Republic Day tableau based on the great freedom fighter by promising to install a statue of Netaji at India Gate.
Mamata Banerjee further said that no reason for the cursory rejection of the tableau was given by the Central Government. CM Banerjee further said, "We will take out a tableau during the Republic Day parade on Red Road here. You will see how vibrant and creative a tableau is, which embraces Netaji's valour and the spirit of the 75th anniversary of Independence Day. The Central Government cannot shy away from the injustice done to West Bengal by rejecting the tableau.'
The theme of this tableau was to present to the public the contribution of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose and his INA on their 125th birth anniversary. His paintings were included in the tableau recalling the struggle of the great freedom fighters, but according to Mamata Banerjee, it has been rejected by the Centre. On this, Mamata Banerjee said that the boycott of this tableau amounts to underestimating the importance of these freedom fighters.
