New Delhi: Captain DV Sathe was the Wing Commander in the Indian Air Force some time back. Prior to joining Air India, he was an experimental test pilot in the Indian Air Force. It is said that Captain DV Sathe was also a pilot of MiG-21, who was living in Ambala, 17 Squadron (Golden Arrow). He also went to the 1999 Kargil War. Captain Sathe has been an instructor in the Air Force Training Academy.

DV Sathe had spent a long time in the Airforce. He was commissioned in the Airforce on 11 June 1981 and retired on 30 June 2003 after 22 years of service. He won the Sword of Honor at AFA in the Airforce and became a fighter pilot. Before leaving for the Air India Express 737, Deepak was flying Airbus 310 of Air India. Apart from this, he was also a test pilot of HAL. According to experts, the pilot nimble-witted and saved many lives.

Captain DV Sathe was an alumnus of National Defense Academy (NDA). He was also honoured with the President's Medal. Air Marshal (Retd) Bhushan Gokhale said that Captain DV. Sathe was from the 58th course of the National Defense Academy. He completed the Air Force Academy in June 1981 with the Sword of Honor. He was also a fighter pilot (wing commander) in the Indian Air Force. He was also an excellent squash player. Deepak Sathe's father was a brigadier in the army. He has also lost his second son. His first son Kargil was martyred in the war. Deepak was one of the few pilots in the country who flew Air India's Airbus 310 aircraft and Boeing 737.
