Each colour included in the tricolour has its own significance, so the 'names' of the person who designed the tricolour have many meanings and significance. Here the 'names' are written because the person who designed it became popular with different names in the country itself. We are talking about Pinagli Venkayya who designed the tricolour. Pingli Venkayya passed away on this day in 1963. He lived in a hut at the last moment. The last phase of his life was spent in extreme poverty. For the first time, a postage stamp was issued in his name in 2009.

Born on August 2, 1876 in Pedakalipatalli village in Krishna city of Andhra Pradesh, Pingali Venkayya studied in a government school. The area where he grew up was famous for textiles and fisheries. Farming was also rampant. His family members were based on agriculture. Pingli was also an expert in cotton cultivation.

Pingali came to know about Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose at the vidyalaya. It had an impact on Pingli's life and at the age of 19 he went to Mumbai and joined the military service. He was trained here and then sent to Africa. In those days, the Peasant War was at its peak in Africa. Pingali, who joined the military after being influenced by Subhash Chandra Bose, met Mahatma Gandhi in South Africa. When Gandhi returned to India, Pingli also returned to the country. Here he became part of the secret revolutionary unit fighting the English rule.
