Platform ticket price hiked in Hyderabad, reason inside

Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], Jan 12 (NT): The railway management of Hyderabad hiked the platform ticket price to just double at few major railway stations for a week to reduce the over-crowding during the festival period of time.To adjust the entry of non-travelling public into leading railway stations like Secunderabad, the South Central Railway has declared to hike the price of platform tickets at Secunderabad railway station from Rs 10 to Rs 20 between January 11 and 17.

While another traveller who was present at the station said, I came here to pick my wife. I would not be here for more than 20 minutes but still am giving Rs 20. It would be better if they cost on basis of hours, for example, Rs 10 for one hour or anything as such."

By increasing the platform ticket rates, the officials hope that it will help to modulate the flow of people and avoid difficulty by guarantee decongestion at the platforms.Railway Protection Force (RPF) officer Raja Gopal Reddy of Secunderabad railway station said, "The main purpose behind growing the platform ticket rates is to avoid surplus public and causes over-crowding inside the police station and also the traffic outside the station. We have made the tight security where the constables will stop the public who are not going to travel." (NT)
