New Delhi: Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC) President Chaudhary Anil Kumar has demanded a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) probe into the alleged use of Israeli spyware 'Pegasus' to spy on at least 300 phone numbers, including phone numbers of opposition leaders, activists, and journalists.

Chaudhary Anil Kumar also claimed that former Congress president Rahul Gandhi's name is also in the list of potential targets monitored. He claimed that Rahul became the 'target' of the present government as he has been constantly raising "inconvenient issues" like corruption, farmers' movement, and mismanagement of the corona epidemic in the Rafale deal. Addressing a press conference at the DPCC office, Kumar said, "The Modi government should prove itself clear on the issue through a JPC inquiry."

Kumar has also questioned Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal's silence on alleged phone spying by opposition leaders and other prominent citizens. An international media organization has revealed that more than 300 mobile numbers of a large number of businessmen and human rights activists, including two Indian ministers, more than 40 journalists, three opposition leaders, may have been hacked through Israeli spy software Pegasus.
