New Delhi: The issue of unfurling of the agitators' flag on the ramparts of the Red Fort during the farmers' tractor march on Republic Day reached the Supreme Court. A Mumbai law student has written a letter to the country's Chief Justice (CJI) S A Bobdey on Tuesday urging him to take cognizance of the violence in the Red Fort during the Farmers' Tractor Parade on Republic Day. A letter written by Mumbai University student Ashish Rai claimed that terror was unleashed by some anti-social elements during the tractor parade.
The letter further states, "The way the flag of the other community was hoisted in place of the country's national flag in the Red Fort hurt the dignity of the country," the letter further said, claiming that public property has also been damaged on a large scale. The letter reads, "This is a shameful incident and the entire country has been hurt by this incident. This incident has led to the humiliation of the country's constitution as well as the tricolour. Such acts hurt the constitutional sentiments of Indian citizens," he said.
A letter to the CJI urged that a Special Inquiry Committee be set up in the entire matter to conduct stringent investigations against anti-social elements involved in this unconstitutional act and to punish the accused.
