New Delhi: Are there chances of a financial emergency being imposed in India? On March 26, the Central For Accountability and Systematic Change (CASC) has filed a petition in the country's highest court. In which there has been a demand that a financial emergency should be implemented throughout the country to prevent the infection of coronavirus.

After the filing of this petition, it is believed that an economic emergency can be imposed in the country soon. The Central Government has the right to enforce the provisions of financial emergency under Article 360 of the Indian Constitution. The central government does not have a clear majority in the Rajya Sabha. Under section 360, it is necessary to approve the proposal for a financial emergency in both the houses. It is believed that on the initiative of the government, the above institution has started an attempt to enforce financial emergency by filing a petition in the apex court.

If an emergency is imposed under Article 360, it gets the right to cut the salary and allowances of employees of Central Government and State Governments. Judges of Supreme Court and High Court are also involved in this. The Center gets huge relief in financial matters. Salary allowances and pensions of all the states can be stopped or reduced. For 2,019-20, this amount is about 9 lakh crore rupees. The expenditure on salary and allowances of civil servants of the central government is about 2.5 lakh crores.

CM Shivraj will address the people of the state through this medium at 8 pm tomorrow
