NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Parliament on Thursday took a gracious turn as he reached out to enquire about Sonia Gandhi's health. This friendly gesture displayed the importance of civility in political circles. Mrs. Gandhi responded with a reassuring gesture, indicating her well-being.

The warm exchange occurred amidst a backdrop of intensified criticism directed at the BJP government from the opposition. The viral video depicting two Kuki women being paraded naked has ignited public outrage, leading to further scrutiny of the government's actions. Additionally, it served as a testing ground for the newly-formed "INDIA" (Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance) coalition, gauging their strength as a united opposition.

The opposition parties seized the opportunity to question PM Modi's silence on the Manipur violence and condemned the acts of sexual atrocities in the state. In response, PM Modi declared that those responsible for such heinous acts shall not escape justice. He called upon all state chiefs to prioritize the safety of women and tighten law and order in their respective regions.

Before the commencement of the Monsoon session in Parliament, PM Modi addressed the reporters, expressing his concern about the shameful incident that has brought disgrace upon the nation. He emphasized that the issue of a woman's honor should transcend politics and unite the country in its pursuit of justice.

Meanwhile, the main suspect, Heradas (32), was apprehended in Thoubal district on Thursday. His arrest was facilitated by a viral video capturing him wearing a green shirt.

Chief Minister Biren Singh has reassured the public that a thorough investigation is underway, and strict action will be taken against the accused. He further indicated the possibility of capital punishment for those found guilty.

The opposition parties have demanded that the issue be discussed in Parliament, with a specific insistence on the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the discussion. Numerous opposition MPs have issued notices in both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, calling for comprehensive deliberations on the situation.

The Prime Minister's gesture of concern towards Sonia Gandhi's health, amidst the current political climate, underscores the significance of maintaining cordiality even in times of tension. The growing opposition pressure demands a careful and robust response from the government to address the pressing issues at hand.
