GANDHINAGAR: Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the launch of a special category of Ayush visa for medical tourists for treatment in India on Wednesday.

He also stated that the ministry of Ayush will implement a particular trademark style of branding for Ayush products in order to identify and recognise high-quality items. Prime Minister Narendra Modi was addressing at the Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar to kick off the three-day Global Ayush Investment and Innovation Summit 2022.

"India is a very appealing medical tourism destination. Kerala's tourism has risen as a result of the state's medical business. This approach may be reproduced across the country, where traditional medicine such as Ayurveda, Yunani, and Siddha, as well as wellness centres, are immensely popular. Our government has decided to create a separate Visa category to make the visa process easier for overseas medical tourists who seek to receive treatment in India "he stated

Prime Minister Modi also announced the creation of a specific Ayush mark, similar to the BSI and ISI certifications, to identify the highest quality Ayush items. "This would provide global consumers with Ayush items that are well-known and of great quality," the Prime Minister added. He also announced the establishment of an Ayush Park, where the company's products will be produced. "The Park would provide Ayush product manufacturing in India a new direction," he said.

The World Health Organization's (WHO) Director General, Dr Tedros Gebreyesus, and the Prime Minister of the Republic of Mauritius, Pravind Kumar Jugnauth, were present at the Summit's opening ceremony. In addition, the Prime Minister launched a number of Ayush-related services and applications. A number of agreements for research and development were also struck.
