New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday will deliver a speech at a Red Fort celebration commemorating the 400th birth anniversary of Sikh guru Tegh Bahadur, and also to release a commemorative coin and postal stamp. The initiative is being organised by the central government in partnership with the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee, according to the PMO.

Ragis and children from all across the country will engage in 'Shabad Kirtan' during the two-day event, which began on Wednesday. A grand light and sound performance representing the life of the Sikh guru will also be presented. Sikhs' traditional martial art, 'Gatka,' will also be organised, according to the statement.

The presentation will focus on the teachings of the ninth Sikh guru, who gave his life to safeguard religion and human values, beliefs, and principles throughout history, according to the statement. He was executed on the orders of Mughal king Aurangzeb for supporting Kashmiri Pandits' religious freedom. Every year on November 24, his death anniversary is marked as 'Shaheedi Divas.' His sacrifice is commemorated in Delhi's Gurdwara Sis Ganj Sahib and Gurdwara Rakab Ganj. It stated that his legacy acts as a significant unifying force for the country.
