New Delhi: On the 15th Civil Services Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will present the awards for excellence in public administration-2021 to implementing units, central and state organisations for effective implementation of designated priority programmes and innovation.
According to a statement released on Tuesday by the personnel ministry, the prime minister's awards for excellence in public administration were instituted to recognise the extraordinary and innovative work done by districts and organisations of the central and state governments for the welfare of the people.
The Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions' Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG) is hosting a two-day civil services day function here on April 20-21, according to the statement. The chief guest at the inaugural celebration on Wednesday will be Minister of State for Personnel Jitendra Singh.
Every year on April 21, the government commemorates "Civil Services Day" as an opportunity for civil officials to reconfirm their commitments to public service and job excellence.
It is to remember the day in 1947 when Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, India's first home minister, spoke to probationary administrative services personnel at Metcalf House in Delhi.
The prizes will be given out for boosting 'Jan Bhagidari,' or people's engagement in the Poshan Abhiyan, fostering excellence in sports and wellness through the Khelo India programme, and digital payments and good governance under the PM SVANidhi Yojana.
