Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived on a two-day visit on Saturday evening and took a night's rest at Belur Math, the headquarters of the Ramakrishna Mission, which reached Kolkata. PM Modi has also spent the night in the cave of Kedarnath before this. Significantly, many former Prime Ministers of the country including Indira Gandhi have visited Belur Math, but none of them have rested the night there.

For your information, let us tell you that PM Modi had a night rest program scheduled in Raj Bhavan, but it was changed to Belur Math at the last moment. The main reason for this is being told on Vivekananda Jayanti on Sunday. According to sources, PM Modi will attend the Aarti to be held at Belur Math at 4 am Sunday. He will also meditate in the Vivekananda temple located in Belur Math. On Vivekananda Jayanti, he will also attend the prayer meeting to be held in the monastery. On the occasion of Youth Day at 8.45 am, we will address the youth of the country from the Math itself. After this, he will stop from Belur Math for other scheduled programs of the day.

In his statement, a senior officer of the Ramakrishna Mission said - "On behalf of the Special Protection Group (SPG) in charge of the security of the Prime Minister, we were informed that the Prime Minister can spend the night in our monastery". On behalf of the mission management, arrangements were made for PM Modi's stay at the International Guest House at Belur Math. The SPG had taken the entire Belur Math complex under its control since Saturday evening. After attending an event at Millennium Park, Modi reached Belur Math at around 9 pm in a special boat from the Navy. Senior officials of the Ramakrishna Mission welcomed him there. PM Modi paid tribute to Ramakrishna Paramahamsa, Sharda Devi and Swami Vivekananda. After this, Ramakrishna met Swami Smarananand, the president of the mission.
