Karnataka: Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Padma Shri awardees Tulsi Gowda and Sukri Bommagowda in Ankola on Wednesday during a new visit to Karnataka, which is close to going to the polls.

Prior to a public event, PM Modi visited the Padma awardees in the Uttara Kannada district at Ankola and asked for their blessing.

It is to be noted that Tulsi Gowda, an environmentalist, was conferred with the Padma Shri award in 2021.
Gowda, who hails from the Karnataka village of Honnali, planted more than 30,000 saplings and looks after the forest department's nurseries. She is a member of the Halakki Tribe and is also referred to as the Encyclopaedia of Forest because of her extensive knowledge of several plant and herb species.

The third-highest civilian prize in the nation, the Padma Shri, was given to Sukri Bommagowda, known as the nightingale of the Halakki Vokkaliga tribes, for folk singing in 2017.

Yesterday, Prime Minister Modi held a mega roadshow in Kalaburagi.

On both sides of the road as Prime Minister Modi's cavalcade passed during the roadshow, people lined up to cheer him on. They also showered him with petals. Riding on the top of a truck, the PM was seen waving at people lining both sides of the street.

PM Modi addressed a group of childrewn before starting the roadshow after seeing them supporting him and got into a cute dialogue with them. He asked them if they study or not. He also asked the children about their  future goals. One of the children replied that he wanted to be a doctor while another said he wanted to become a police officer. PM then asked, "Do not you want to become the Prime Minister?" To that question, one of the children said, "I want to become like you a good PM."

Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently performed a series of big roadshows and public gatherings in the election-bound state of Karnataka, greatly bolstering the BJP's electoral campaign there.

In an effort to hold onto control of the lone southern state, Karnataka, the BJP has mobilised all of its heavyweights and top guns. Along with Prime Minister Modi, other prominent campaigners in the state ahead of the May 10 elections include BJP national president JP Nadda, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

The saffron party, which is running for reelection in the state, has radiated assurance that it will win a landslide victory.
