Here are 10 key things to note about the 2nd Vande Bharat Express on the Varanasi-New Delhi route:

The new Vande Bharat train on the Varanasi-Delhi route will sport a saffron color and boast several new features, according to a statement by the Northern Railway.

The train will offer superior passenger amenities, including onboard Wi-Fi entertainment, GPS-based passenger information systems, comfortable interiors, touch-free bio-vacuum toilets, ambient LED lighting, charging points for every seat, individual touch-based reading lights, and concealed roller blinds.

Additional features include improved heat ventilation and air conditioning with a UV lamp for germ-free air supply. The intelligent AC system adjusts cooling based on climate conditions and occupancy.

Timings for the train are set at departure from Varanasi at 6:00 am, arriving in New Delhi at 2:05 pm. The return journey will start from New Delhi at 3:00 pm and reach Varanasi at 11:05 pm, after a 55-minute halt.

The train will operate six days a week, excluding Tuesdays.

The route includes stops at Prayagraj (07:34 am), Kanpur Central (09:30 am) before reaching New Delhi (2:05 pm). The return journey departs from New Delhi (3:00 pm), reaching Kanpur Central (7:12 pm), Prayagraj (9:15 pm), and finally Varanasi (11:05 pm).

The existing Vande Bharat train (22436) between New Delhi and Varanasi starts from Delhi at 6:00 am, reaching the destination station at 2:00 pm. Its return journey departs at 3:00 pm, reaching New Delhi at 11:00 pm, running six days a week except Thursdays.

The first saffron-grey Vande Bharat train was introduced on September 24 between Kasaragod and Thiruvananthapuram in Kerala. It was one of nine trains inaugurated by the Prime Minister via video conference.

Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw dismissed claims of political influence behind the choice of orange or saffron colors for the Vande Bharat trains. He cited scientific reasoning, mentioning that yellow and orange are highly visible colors for human eyes. Vaishnaw pointed out that in Europe, around 80% of trains use either orange or a combination of yellow and orange.
