New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Wednesday, extended his gratitude to the diligent workers, known as "shramjeevis," who played a pivotal role in constructing the cutting-edge Pragati Maidan Complex, also known as the India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO) complex in the heart of New Delhi. This remarkable facility is set to host the highly anticipated G20 leaders' meeting in September.
With its inauguration, Delhi is now home to a state-of-the-art International exhibition-cum-convention centre, expected to elevate conference tourism in India by attracting participants from all corners of the globe. The impact of this centre is far-reaching, promising significant economic and tourism-related benefits," as highlighted in the Prime Minister's tweet.
Spanning nearly 123 acres, the ITPO complex stands as a testament to meticulous planning and development, replacing the old structures in the area with a total cost of Rs. 2,700 crore. It is now recognized as India's largest meeting, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions (MICE) destination.
Ranked among the top 10 exhibition and convention complexes in the world, the new convention centre proudly competes with renowned venues such as the Hannover Exhibition Centre in Germany and the National Exhibition and Convention Centre in Shanghai.
Later today, PM Modi is set to grace the inaugural ceremony at the ITPO, where the highly anticipated G20 stamp and coin will be unveiled. This momentous occasion marks the beginning of a new era in India's convention and exhibition landscape.
