PANAJI: In a bid to experience the "festival of democracy," Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday extended an invitation to G20 delegates to visit India for the general elections of 2024.

At the G20 Tourism Ministerial Meeting's opening session on Wednesday in Goa, a recorded message from Modi was played. The prime minister emphasised in his address that tourism has the capacity to foster social harmony. He remarked, "It is said that while terrorism divides, tourism unites."

In order to see the "festival of democracy" in the "mother of democracy," Modi asked G20 leaders to visit India in 2024, when the country's next general elections will be place.

There will be no shortage of locations for you to observe this event in all its richness because there are more than a million polling stations, he said. I welcome you all to magnificent India, he remarked as he greeted the ministers and other delegates from the various G20 nations. Incredible India is also the tagline for a popular campaign organised by the tourism ministry to promote tourism.

In his video greeting to the G20 delegates, Modi said, "Visiting India is not just about sightseeing, it's an immersive experience." He added that in India, visitors are revered as gods, or "Atithi Devo Bhava."

The entire ecosystem of Indian tourism has received special attention from the central government during the past nine years, he said, adding, "We have kept the tourism sector as the focal point of our reforms." He urged the G20 ministers and other participants to visit Goa and experience its festivals and natural beauty.
