Gorakhpur: PM Narendra Modi on Monday laid the foundation stone of 31 Amrit Bharat stations of North Eastern Railway through video conferencing. Inaugurated the redeveloped Gomti Nagar station at a total cost of approximately Rs 385 crore. Dedicated to the nation 111 bridges, road overbridges and underbridges falling in the North Eastern Railway region. In his address, PM Modi said that railway overbridges and underbridges have ensured uninterrupted and accident-free movement today. Modern facilities like airports are also being provided to poor people and middle class at railway stations. Amrit Bharat station will be a symbol of development and heritage.
PM Modi said that today's program is a symbol of the new work culture of the new India. Redevelopment of 553 railway stations spread across 27 states and union territories will be done at a cost of more than Rs 19,000 crore. All these stations will act as 'city centre' connecting both the sides of the city. These will have modern passenger amenities like roof plaza, beautiful landscape, inter-modal connectivity, excellent station frontage, children's play area, kiosk, food court etc. He said that these will be redeveloped as environment friendly and disabled friendly. The design of these station buildings will be inspired by local culture, heritage and architecture.
