New Delhi: PM Narendra Modi praised the Indian athletes who have excelled in the Olympics from the ramparts of the Red Fort and said that they have not only won our hearts but also done a great job of inspiring generations to come. After his address, Prime Minister Modi greeted the Indian contingent and NCC cadets who participated in the Olympics.

India has won 7 medals, including one gold, in its stellar performance so far at the recently concluded Tokyo Olympics. In his Independence Day speech on the occasion of 75th Independence Day, PM Modi said, "The younger generation, our athletes, our sportspersons who brought glory to India in the Olympics, are among us today. Some are here and some are sitting in front."

"I also tell the countrymen today, those who are present here and all those who are present in every corner of India to clap and respect our sportspersons for a few moments." Respect for India's sports, respect for India's younger generation, respect for the youth who have brought glory to India. Millions of countrymen are today honoring and sanctifying these soldiers of our country with applause. He said that players have done a great job of motivating India's younger generation.
