NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated several significant railway projects across Telangana, Odisha, and Jammu & Kashmir, aimed at enhancing regional connectivity and fostering socio-economic development. The virtual event, held on Monday at 12:30 PM IST, was a major milestone in the country’s railway infrastructure upgrades.

One of the standout initiatives was the inauguration of the new Jammu Railway Division, covering over 742 kilometers and vital routes such as Pathankot-Jammu-Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla. This development is set to improve transport links in Jammu and Kashmir, offering the region enhanced access to other parts of India. Local aspirations for better connectivity will be met, boosting tourism and providing employment opportunities while driving regional economic growth.

Alongside this, Prime Minister Modi also inaugurated the Charlapalli New Terminal Station in Telangana’s Medchal-Malkajgiri district. With an investment of around Rs 413 crore, this state-of-the-art facility is designed to be eco-friendly and passenger-centric. It will alleviate congestion at existing coaching terminals in Hyderabad, including Secunderabad and Kacheguda. This new terminal will play a key role in improving the region's railway infrastructure.

The Prime Minister also laid the foundation stone for the Rayagada Railway Division Building of East Coast Railway, aimed at improving rail connectivity in Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, and surrounding regions. This project will contribute to the socio-economic development of these areas by providing better transportation options.

The event saw the participation of several notable figures, including Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, Odisha Governor Hari Babu Kambhampat, and Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw.

These initiatives form part of the government's ongoing commitment to modernizing the railway network, enhancing infrastructure, and improving services for millions of passengers nationwide.

The project, aimed at connecting vital regions such as Pathankot, Jammu, Udhampur, and Baramulla in Jammu and Kashmir, holds significant promise for the region's growth. By improving connectivity, it will not only foster smoother movement of people and goods but also facilitate the integration of these areas with the broader national network. This enhanced connectivity is expected to stimulate economic activities, boost trade, and create new employment opportunities, unlocking the untapped economic potential of the region. Furthermore, the project reflects the government’s firm dedication to addressing regional disparities, ensuring that remote and underserved areas are brought into the national economic fold, and promoting balanced development across the country. Ultimately, this initiative has the potential to play a pivotal role in transforming the socio-economic landscape of Jammu and Kashmir.
