New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation in his monthly radio programme Mann Ki Baat today. In his address, he said, "The nation is fighting the COVID-19 epidemic with all its might. The production of liquid medical oxygen, a key ingredient in the treatment of covid patients, has increased tenfold in India". At the same time, he said, "It was a big challenge to supply medical oxygen to remote areas during the second wave of COVID-19. Drivers of cryogenic oxygen tankers helped by working on a war footing to meet the challenges facing the country and saved millions of lives".

Further, he said, "In normal times, the daily production of liquid medical oxygen was 900 metric tonnes, now it has increased 10 times to about 9,500 metric tonnes. There was only one testing lab in the country at the beginning of corona, but today more than 2,500 labs are working. Initially, a few hundred tests were conducted in a day, now more than 2 million tests are being conducted in a day. More than 33 crore samples have been tested in the country so far. At the same time, referring to Cyclone Taukte and Yaas, he said, "More lives have been saved than in the past. The Centre and the States are working together to ensure minimum loss of life and property".

PM Modi further said, "In this time of disaster, people affected from cyclone showed courage and fought with patience and discipline. I humbly wish to acknowledge the efforts of those who actively participated in relief and rescue operations. I salute them all". At the same time, he said, "I extend my deepest condolences to those who have lost their loved ones. We all stand firmly with those who have suffered".
