Prime Minister Narendra Modi, currently on a three-day meditation retreat in Kanyakumari, arrived at the iconic Vivekananda Rock Memorial in Tamil Nadu on Thursday evening. PM Modi began his meditation on May 30 at the Dhyan Mandapam, where Swami Vivekananda once meditated, and he will conclude his retreat on June 1.

Spiritual Journey

Before visiting the memorial, the Prime Minister offered prayers at the Bhagavathy Amman Temple in Kanyakumari. This visit follows the completion of the seven-phase Lok Sabha election campaigns, with his final campaign event in Punjab's Hoshiarpur on Thursday, ahead of the last voting phase on June 1.

Dressed in a traditional 'dhoti' and an off-white shawl, PM Modi visited the Sree Kanyakumari Bhagavathi temple to offer prayers to Devi Bhagavathi Amman before heading to the Vivekananda Rock Memorial for his meditation.

Historical Significance
The Vivekananda Rock Memorial holds great significance, as Swami Vivekananda meditated there after traveling across India. He spent three days in deep meditation on this rock, where he envisioned a developed India. According to Hindu mythology, Goddess Parvati also meditated at this site while waiting for Lord Shiva.

Kanyakumari's Unique Location

Kanyakumari is situated at the southernmost tip of India, where the eastern and western coastlines meet. It is also the convergence point of the Indian Ocean, the Bay of Bengal, and the Arabian Sea.

Timing and Symbolism

PM Modi's spiritual retreat comes just days before the announcement of the Lok Sabha election results on June 4. In 2019, he undertook a similar retreat to Kedarnath, where he meditated in a cave before the final phase of elections. During his visit, he also prayed at various temples, including Sri Arulmigu Ramanathaswamy Temple, Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple, and the Kothandaramaswamy Temple.

PM Modi's visit to Tamil Nadu carries symbolic importance, as he has actively campaigned for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in an effort to strengthen their presence in South India. Throughout his campaign, the Prime Minister has also been a vocal advocate for Tamil culture.
