VARANASI:Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the second edition of Kashi Tamil Sangamam on Sunday, emphasizing its role in fostering the essence of 'Ek Bharat, Shresth Bharat' (One India, Best India). This initiative further solidifies the cultural connections between various regions across the country.

During the event, PM Modi also flagged off the Kashi Tamil Sangamam Express, connecting Varanasi to Kanyakumari. Scheduled from December 17 to 31, the Sangamam will witness the participation of 1,400 dignitaries, including students, teachers, farmers, writers, and spiritual leaders from Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.

Addressing the audience at Namo Ghat, PM Modi highlighted the significance of this initiative in rediscovering and celebrating the historical ties between Tamil Nadu and Kashi. These two regions hold immense historical importance as ancient centers of learning in India.

"The Kashi Tamil Sangamam is a continuous endeavor that consistently strengthens the ethos of 'Ek Bharat, Shresth Bharat'," stated Prime Minister Modi. He credited ancient philosophers like Adi Shankaracharya and Ramanujacharya for their role in shaping the idea of India as a unified nation.

Referring to the Sengol, a historic scepter from Tamil Nadu housed in the Lok Sabha chamber of the new Parliament building, PM Modi remarked, "Under the guidance of Adheenam seers, this Sengol became the symbol of the transfer of power in 1947." He also praised saints like Adi Shankaracharya and Ramanujacharya for their efforts in unifying India and nurturing a sense of national consciousness through their spiritual journeys.
