India Prime Minister Narendra Modi took the stage at the climate change summit in Dubai, advocating for India to become the host country for the Conference of the Parties (COP33) summit in 2028. "Today, India stands as a shining example of striking a harmonious balance between ecological preservation and economic development on the global stage. Despite being home to 17% of the world's population, India's contribution to Global Carbon Emissions remains under 4%. We're among the select economies worldwide steadfastly progressing towards meeting our NDC targets," he remarked.
