Bangalore: CabinetMinister Umesh Katti has stirred a controversy by saying that once Narendra Modi comes to power after the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Maharashtra and Karnataka will be divided into two parts, while UP will be divided into four parts. He claimed that discussions are on to create a total of 50 states in the country.
Umesh Katti, who is handling the food and civil supplies ministry in the Karnataka government, said it was true that they wanted to make Uttara Kannada a separate state. He further said that once PM Narendra Modi comes back to power by winning the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Karnataka and Maharashtra will be divided into two parts, while Uttar Pradesh will be divided into four parts.
The Karnataka cabinet minister further said, "This is not our party's stand, but it must be so this time. Let's all come together and do that. After the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections, PM Modi will return to power. Maharashtra will be divided into two parts, Karnataka will also be divided into two parts, and Uttar Pradesh will be divided into four parts. Discussions are on to create a total of 50 states. Uttara Kannada should become a separate state.
