New Delhi: PM Narendra Modi interacted with 49 veteran sportspersons of various sports through video conference on Friday morning. The video conference was attended by BCCI president Sourav Ganguly, Sachin Tendulkar, current captain Virat Kohli, former captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Rohit Sharma, former fast bowlers Zaheer Khan, Yuvraj Singh, KL Rahul.

Apart from the cricketers, Olympic silver medalist PV Sindhu, javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra, veteran chess players Vishwanathan Anand, Dhavika Hima Das, boxers MC Mary Kom and Amit Panghal, wrestler Vinesh Phogat and young shooter Manu Bhakhar also participated. Earlier, PM Modi released a video message on social media platforms at 9 am and requested the countrymen to demonstrate their collective strength against the infection.

PM Modi had said that "All the people should show collective strength against the corona infection by lighting the darkness in the dark, keeping in mind the social distancing for 9 minutes on Sunday, April 5." He called on the countrymen to show solidarity against the corona epidemic, saying, "In the meantime, turn off all the lights of the house, light a candle, lamp, flashlight or mobile flashlight at the door of the house or standing in the balcony."
