NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address a gathering of Indian-Americans or Indian Diasporas from across the United States in Washington on June 23 on the role of the Diaspora in India’s growth story, the source said.
Prime Minister Modi is visiting the United States from June 21 to 24 at the invitation of US President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden. The US President and the First Lady will host Prime Minister Narendra Modi at a State dinner on June 22. The visit also includes an address to the Joint Session of the Congress on June 22.
The Prime Minister's talk will take place in the illustrious Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Centre, which has already played host to a number of important gatherings. It is the first federal structure in Washington that was intended for use by both the public and private sectors.
The one and only community event that will take place during the Prime Minister's visit is now under heavy preparation. A National Organising Committee made up of 25 distinguished individuals had been formed.
The U.S. India Community Foundation would be in charge of organising the event. Also, a co-host committee has been formed. Both committees have a sizable representation of the community, the Community leaders said..  Â
Meanwhile, two US legislators spoke in the US House of Representatives this week about the importance of PM Modi's visit to the United States
"I'd like to use this chance to talk about Prime Minister Modi's very significant visit this week. On June 6, Congressman Rich McCormick said, "I am delighted that this person is coming to America to foster goodwill between our two countries in one of the most strategically significant ties we have in the world.
Congressman Joe Wilson from North Carolina said that the existing United State-India partnership has been earmarked by PM Modi being warmly welcomed in the House Chamber, Madison Square Garden, and ‘Howdy, Modi’ in Houston. "With India as the largest democracy and America as the oldest democracy, both have shared values of democracy with the rule of law opposing authoritarians with the rule of the gun," he remarked.
