NEW DELHI: Delhi University's centenary celebrations will reach their pinnacle on June 30, as Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be the esteemed chief guest at the valedictory ceremony. This momentous event will also be graced by Dharmendra Pradhan, the Minister of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, who will serve as the guest of honour.

Anoop Lather, the public relations officer (PRO) of the university, confirmed the participation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and stated, "Prime Minister Narendra Modiji will be the chief guest of the programme. Education, Skill Development, and Entrepreneurship Minister Dharmendra Pradhan will be the guest of honour." The valedictory ceremony will be held at the multipurpose hall of the university's sports complex, adding grandeur to the celebration of Delhi University's rich legacy.

Established on May 1, 1922, Delhi University has dedicated the past year to commemorating its centenary. The upcoming valedictory ceremony marks the culmination of a series of remarkable events and initiatives that have highlighted the university's journey over the past century.

On May 1, 2022, the university kickstarted its centenary celebrations with an inaugural ceremony, honoring the foundation day of the esteemed institution. Venkaiah Naidu, the former Vice President of India, graced the occasion as the chief guest, accompanied by Dharmendra Pradhan as the guest of honour.

As Prime Minister Narendra Modi prepares to visit Delhi University, Registrar Vikas Gupta expressed his enthusiasm, emphasizing the significance of this occasion for the university. He remarked, "To the best of my knowledge, it will be after approximately 30 years when the Prime Minister of India will be visiting Delhi University."

Throughout the year-long centenary celebrations, Delhi University embarked on a multitude of activities and initiatives to commemorate its illustrious history. These endeavors included the construction of state-of-the-art hostels and buildings, the introduction of new courses, and the organization of various celebratory events. Additionally, documentaries were created to showcase the university's rich heritage, while captivating light and sound shows brought its legacy to life. The establishment of DU Studio, Litfests, book melas, seminars, conferences, workshops, and international lecture series further underscored the university's commitment to excellence and intellectual growth.

With Prime Minister Narendra Modi's presence at the valedictory ceremony, Delhi University's centenary celebrations will culminate in an event that will be etched in the annals of the institution's history.
