 New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Chauri Chaura Centenary Celebrations at Chauri Chaura, Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, on 4th February 2021 at 11 AM via video conferencing. Prime Minister will also release a postal stamp dedicated to the Chauri Chaura centenary during the event. Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh will also be present on the occasion.

The day marks 100 years of the ‘Chauri Chaura’ incident, a milestone event in the country’s fight for independence.  The centenary celebrations and various events planned by the State government will begin in all 75 districts of the State from 4th February 2021 and will continue till 4th February 2022.

The theme of organizing the Chauri Chaura Shatabdi celebrations will be 'Swadeshi, self-reliance and cleanliness'. The spirit of self-reliance is the core of self-reliant Uttar Pradesh. The weavers, weavers, women self-help groups, craftsmen etc. who have done special work in various products ODOP of the district will also be encouraged with Vishwakarma Shram Samman, Skill Development Award etc. Farmers and cattle ranchers will also be honored for outstanding work.

The District Magistrate has instructed all the officials that based on the historical event of Chauri Chaura at the district level, an action plan should be prepared at the district level to ensure its implementation. 

He said that an action plan should also be made for the development of freedom struggle sites, freedom fighters and martyred villages in the district. He said that programs should be implemented at these places on the basis of self-reliance, Swadeshi and cleanliness.
