New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to travel to Goa on Tuesday to mark the inauguration of the ONGC Sea Survival Centre and launch the India Energy Week 2024. The Prime Minister's Office announced this on Monday, revealing additional plans for his itinerary.

One of the Prime Minister's primary objectives has been achieving self-reliance in energy needs. As part of this ongoing effort, the India Energy Week 2024 is scheduled from February 6 to 9 in Goa. This event aims to become India's largest energy exhibition and conference, uniting stakeholders across the energy spectrum to drive the nation's energy transition goals forward.

During the visit, Prime Minister Modi will engage in a roundtable discussion with global oil and gas CEOs and experts. The event will also spotlight the significance of nurturing startups and integrating them into the energy sector, with expectations of participation from 17 energy ministers from various countries, over 35,000 attendees, and more than 900 exhibitors.

Moreover, the Prime Minister will inaugurate and lay the foundation stones for projects worth over Rs 1,330 crores in Goa. This includes inaugurating the permanent campus of the National Institute of Technology Goa, equipped with various facilities to cater to the needs of students, faculty, and staff.

Additionally, Prime Minister Modi will dedicate the new campus of the National Institute of Watersports to the nation, offering tailored courses aimed at enhancing watersports and water rescue activities. He will also inaugurate a 100 TPD Integrated Waste Management Facility in South Goa, featuring a solar power plant generating surplus electricity.

Furthermore, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for a Passenger Ropeway connecting Panaji and Reis Magos, alongside launching the construction of a 100 MLD Water Treatment Plant in South Goa.

As part of efforts to boost employment, the Prime Minister will distribute appointment orders to 1930 new Government recruits during a Rozgar Mela, and hand over sanction letters to beneficiaries of various welfare schemes.

The highlight of the visit will be the inauguration of the ONGC Sea Survival Centre, designed to elevate India's sea survival training standards to global levels. Expected to train 10,000-15,000 personnel annually, the centre's simulated exercises will enhance trainees' skills, potentially increasing their chances of safe escape during real-life disasters.
