PM Modi to launch Magenta Line of Delhi Metro today

New Delhi [India], Dec 25 (NT): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday will launch the Magenta Line of the Delhi Metro, which is likely to allow commuting cozy between South Delhi and Noida.

 As per reportsPrime Minister Modi will address the crowd at the Botanical Garden Metro Station after traveling in the new section of the transport network.

The 12.64-km stretch runs between Kalkaji and Noida's Botanical Garden and reduces a travel time of 19 minutes, consequently makes easy access for commuters from Noida to South Delhi and vice versa.

The coaches will have following features:

  • LED display,
  • Power charging capacity and
  • Colorful seats, as the stations will represent themes of nature, yoga, and cultural landmarks.
  • Driverless trains are to be launched along with the Communication Based Train Control (CBTC) signaling technology,
  • It also facilitates the movement of trains within a frequency of 90 to 100 seconds.
  • The Magenta Line also has the facility of the first platform screen doors (PSDs).It has glass-made screens installed near the edge of platforms that unlock only when a train arrives and close after it departs.

 

On a related note, a driverless metro train on Tuesday collided with a nearby boundary wall during a trial run because of alleged negligence by the maintenance officials.

The accident occurred at the Kalindi Kunj Metro railroad station along the Magenta Line, apparently took place when the train was being run from the workshop without testing the brake system. As a result, when the train was moved up the ramp for washing, it rolled back and strike the closest boundary wall. (NT)
