Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Maharashtra on Friday to participate in two major events. He will address the Global Fintech Fest (GFF) 2024 in Mumbai and lay the foundation stone for the Vadhvan Port project in Palghar.

At 11 am, Modi will speak at the GFF 2024, held at the Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai. The event will bring together policymakers, regulators, and industry leaders to discuss the latest in financial technology. The festival will feature over 350 sessions with 800 speakers from India and around the world, highlighting new fintech innovations and launching more than 20 thought leadership reports.

Later, at approximately 1:30 pm, the Prime Minister will travel to CIDCO ground in Palghar to inaugurate and lay the groundwork for various development projects. This includes the Vadhvan Port project, which is valued at around Rs76,000 crore. Located near Dahanu in Palghar district, Vadhvan Port is designed to be a major deep-water port that will enhance India’s maritime capabilities. It will facilitate large container vessels and ultra-large cargo ships, reducing transit times and costs while boosting trade and economic growth.

The port is anticipated to create numerous job opportunities, stimulate local businesses, and contribute significantly to the regional economy.

In addition, Modi will inaugurate 218 fisheries projects worth approximately Rs1,560 crore, aimed at improving the sector's infrastructure and productivity. These projects are expected to generate over 500,000 jobs in the fisheries sector. He will also launch the National Roll Out of the Vessel Communication and Support system, which will install one lakh transponders on fishing vessels across 13 coastal states and Union Territories.

Other key initiatives include the development of fishing harbours, integrated aquaparks, and the adoption of advanced technologies like recirculatory aquaculture systems and biofloc. The Prime Minister will lay the foundation for new infrastructure, including modernised fishing harbours, landing centres, and fish markets.

This visit highlights the government's commitment to enhancing both technological innovation and regional development.
