PM Modi to lay foundation stone for drinking water supply projects on November 22

Lucknow: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone of rural drinking water supply projects in Mirzapur and Sonbhadra districts of Vindhyachal region of Uttar Pradesh through a video conference on November 22 at 11.30 am. The Prime Minister will also hold talks with members of the village's Water and Sanitation Committee. Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath will also be present on the occasion.

With this project, tap water will be provided to all the families of 2,995 villages. This will benefit the 42 lakh population of these districts. Village water and sanitation committees and water committees have been formed in all these villages with the responsibility of operation and maintenance on their shoulders. The total estimated cost of the project is Rs 5,555.38 crore. Projects are to be completed in 2 years.

On 15 August 2019, PM Modi announced the Water Life Mission from the ramparts of the Red Fort. Its objective is to provide tap water connection to all rural households in the country by 2024. During the mission announcement in August 2019, out of 18.93 crore rural households, only 3.23 crore families (17%) had tap water connections. In the next four years, 15.70 crore families will be provided with tap water connections.
