NEW DELHI: The Ministry of External Affairs announced on Wednesday that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit the United States for a state visit next month to highlight the growing significance of the two countries' strategic alliances and to discuss their respective visions for a free and open Indo-Pacific. 

As per reports, PM Modi has been invited to a state dinner on June 22 by President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden.  the visit is explected to begin on June 21 and last up to four days.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi of the Republic of India will be welcomed to the United States on June 22 for an official state visit, which will include a state supper, MEA said.

The visit will present a significant opportunity for the US and India to further develop their comprehensive and long-term international strategic alliance. The MEA omitted to mention the length of PM Modi's trip to the US. 

Notably, this will be PM Modi's first trip to the US since Joe Biden took office. In September 2021, the prime minister travelled to Washington to take part in the inaugural in-person Quad Leaders Summit. During that visit, according to PTI, Modi and Biden held a bilateral meeting. 

Following an invitation from President Joseph Biden and First Lady Jill Biden, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will travel to the United States for an official state visit on June 22, the MEA said. 

The MEA said that the visit will highlight the growing importance of the strategic partnership between India and the US as the two nations collaborate across numerous sectors.

The leaders will have the opportunity to discuss robust bilateral cooperation in a variety of sectors of shared interest, including increasing people-to-people ties, clean energy, trade, industry, education, and research, according to MEA. 

The Ministry added that PM Modi and Joe Biden will also explore ways to boost India-US collaboration in plurilateral and multilateral fora, including in the G20.

Both parties will address ways to strengthen and expand the Quad engagement while reflecting on their shared vision for a free, open, and inclusive Indo-Pacific. 

The White House stated that PM Modi's visit will reaffirm the intimate ties of friendship and family that bind Americans and Indians together. 

"The leaders will discuss ways to further expand our educational exchanges and people-to-people ties, as well as our work together to confront common challenges from climate change, to workforce development, and health security," the White House noted.
