Hyderabad: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to embark on a visit to Telangana on Sunday afternoon, during which he will lay the foundation stone for a range of development projects collectively valued at more than Rs 13,500 crore. Scheduled to arrive in Mahabubnagar district around 2:15 PM, the Prime Minister will dedicate these projects spanning various critical sectors, including road infrastructure, railways, petroleum, natural gas, and higher education. As part of the visit, PM Modi will also launch a new train service via video conferencing.
Among the key initiatives to be inaugurated is the Nagpur – Vijayawada Economic Corridor, featuring two significant road projects. These projects encompass a 108 km-long 'four-lane access-controlled Greenfield highway from Warangal to Khammam section of NH-163G' and a 90 km-long 'four-lane access-controlled Greenfield highway from Khammam to Vijayawada section of NH-163G.' The combined investment in these road projects amounts to approximately Rs 6,400 crore. They are expected to substantially reduce travel distances between Warangal and Khammam, as well as between Khammam and Vijayawada.
Additionally, PM Modi will dedicate a road project involving the 'four-laning of the 59 km-long Suryapet to Khammam section of NH-365BB.' This project, constructed at an estimated cost of around Rs 2,460 crore, is part of the Hyderabad – Visakhapatnam Corridor under the Bharatmala Pariyojana. It will enhance connectivity to Khammam district and the coastal regions of Andhra Pradesh.
Railway infrastructure is also a highlight of this visit. The Prime Minister will dedicate '37 km of the Jaklair – Krishna New Railway Line,' a project costing more than Rs 500 crore. This new rail section marks a significant inclusion of the backward district of Narayanpet on the railway network. Additionally, PM Modi will flag off the inaugural Hyderabad (Kacheguda) – Raichur – Hyderabad (Kacheguda) train service from Krishna station through video conferencing. This service will connect various districts in Telangana and Karnataka, facilitating rail connectivity for previously underserved regions, benefiting students, daily commuters, laborers, and the local handloom industry.
Furthermore, Prime Minister Modi will lay the foundation stone for critical oil and gas pipeline projects. This includes the 'Hassan-Cherlapalli LPG Pipeline Project,' valued at around Rs 2,170 crore. The LPG pipeline, stretching from Hassan in Karnataka to Cherlapalli near Hyderabad, offers a secure, cost-effective, and eco-friendly means of LPG transportation and distribution in the region. Additionally, PM Modi will initiate the 'Multi-Product Petroleum Pipeline of Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL) from Krishnapatnam to Hyderabad (Malkapur).' Covering a distance of 425 kilometers, this pipeline, costing Rs 1,940 crore, will provide a safer, faster, and more environmentally friendly mode of transporting petroleum products in the area.
Lastly, PM Modi will inaugurate five new buildings at the University of Hyderabad, including the School of Economics, School of Mathematics and Statistics, School of Management Studies, Lecture Hall Complex – III, and Sarojini Naidu School of Arts and Communication (Annexe). This infrastructure upgrade is aimed at enhancing facilities and amenities for both students and faculty at the University of Hyderabad.
