New Delhi: PM Narendra Modi will visit Goa today. The Prime Minister will attend functions at Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Stadium on Goa Liberation Day and inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of several development projects. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will felicitate freedom fighters of 'Operation Vijay' run by the Indian Armed Forces to liberate Goa from Portuguese rule.

In addition, he will inaugurate several other projects including the renovated Agowda Jail Museum, Super Speciality Section of Goa Medical College, and New South Goa District Hospital. The Indian Army had launched Operation Vijay in 1961 to liberate Goa from Portuguese rule after which Goa became independent after the completion

On 19th December, the Indian Army declared Operation Vijay, which was launched to liberate Goa from Portuguese rule, a success. As a result, Goa Liberation Day is celebrated every year on 19th December in Goa. Pm Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Super Speciality Block of Goa Medical College and Hospital as he attends functions on the occasion of Goa Liberation Day. This will not force the people of Goa to go out for medical care. With this, the people of Goa will not be compelled to go out for medical facilities. It has been constructed under PM Swasthya Suraksha Yojana. About Rs 380 crore has been spent on its construction.
