NEW DELHI: After BJP National President J P. Nadda and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, now the Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be in charge of the BJP's "northeast mission."
The saffron party has been working towards its objective of an India without the Congress since 2014, and it has succeeded in ousting the party from office in numerous northeastern states.
The BJP is now strategising to win the vote bank of the regional parties in these states. Elections for the Legislative Assembly were held in Tripura on February 16, and the campaigning for the Assembly elections in Meghalaya and Nagaland, which will take place on February 27, is well underway.
The Prime Minister will visit these two states on Friday to support the party candidates, according to sources.
The BJP is placing a high priority on fortifying the group and growing its support base by taking advantage of Modi's appeal in the northeastern states.
The saffron party severed ties with the ruling coalition government in Meghalaya and ran candidates for all 60 seats in the state, contesting more seats in Tripura than it had previously.
The BJP is running for 20 of the 60 seats in Nagaland, hoping to gain 17–18 seats in contrast to the 12 it won in the 2018 Assembly elections.
