"The people of Nagaland contribute significantly to India's development. In the years ahead, I pray for Nagaland's progress," PM Modi said.

Nagaland, a northeastern border state, is a varied region with numerous tribes. On December 1, 1963, it became a state.

Nagaland joined the Indian Union as the 16th state on December 1, 1963. The statehood of Nagaland was the result of significant sacrifices made by the state's founding fathers, who strengthened the state's sociopolitical-administrative character.
