Chandigarh: Former Punjab CM and Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) patron Parkash Singh Badal passed away on April 25 at the age of 95. PM Narendra Modi reached Chandigarh on Wednesday and paid tribute to him. During this, many senior leaders including Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar were also present there. At the same time, PM Modi has now written an article in the memory of former CM Badal. In this article, he has told that when he came to know about the death of Sardar Prakash Singh Badal, he was very sad.
Comparing Parkash Singh Badal with his father, PM Modi said that he feels as if he has lost his father. In his article, the Prime Minister wrote that he has changed the politics of India and Punjab in many ways. Badal Saheb was not only a big leader, but he was also a big hearted person. It is easy to become a big leader, but a lot has to be done to become a big hearted person. People in Punjab are often found saying, 'Badal SaheB ki baat hi alag thi.'
In his article, the Prime Minister also referred to the time when he was a common BJP worker, when Parkash Singh Badal was the CM of Punjab. PM Modi writes that I had to come to North India in connection with work in the 1990s. At that time, Prakash Singh Badal used to be a big name in the politics of Punjab. Even though his political stature was huge, he never let it become an obstacle. Anyone who has met him knows what his sense of humor was like.
PM Modi writes in his article that after taking oath as CM, Badal Saheb told me that both of us will go to Amritsar together. One night we would stay and the next day would attend prayer and langar. I was staying in the guest house, then he came into the room and started taking my belongings. When I asked why he was doing this, he said that I would have to stay with him in the chief minister's room. I was a normal worker at that time, but I was very surprised by his move.
PM Modi also praised former CM Badal's way of working with people of all ideologies. He wrote that Badal Saheb was such a personality, who brought many people together. He could work with leaders of all ideologies. It is going to be very difficult to fill the vacant place after Badal Saheb's death. He saw many ups and downs in his life, but every time he moved forward by dealing with the challenges. He will always be in our heart.
