NEW DELHI: On Tuesday, September 17, 2024 the Narendra Modi government will mark the first 100 days of its third term, coinciding with the Prime Minister’s birthday. Significant achievements during this period include the creation of 11 lakh new 'Lakhpati Didis'—women earning over Rs 1 lakh annually—bringing the total to over one crore.

In response to queries about job creation, a senior government official pointed out that the rise in 'Lakhpati Didis' demonstrates the government's success in this area.

During these initial 100 days, the government approved projects worth Rs 15 lakh crore. Notably, these projects were launched with inauguration dates announced simultaneously. Officials were tasked with preparing a roadmap for this term, with job creation through these projects highlighted as a major goal. "Employment extends beyond just government jobs; many long-term projects focus on creating jobs," a source noted.

Infrastructure developments include the approval of projects worth Rs 3 lakh crore, such as connecting 25,000 previously unlinked villages to road networks and developing a major port at Wadhawan in Maharashtra.

In agriculture, the government increased the minimum support price (MSP) for Kharif crops, eliminated the minimum export price (MEP) on onions and basmati rice, and raised duties on imports of crude palm oil, soybean oil, and sunflower oil.

Another significant achievement is the addition of 75,000 new medical seats, aimed at enhancing healthcare and reducing dependence on foreign medical education.

Disaster management also saw progress with the introduction of the Disaster Management (Amendment) Bill, 2024. The government approved Rs 12,554 crore for states to address urban floods, improve firefighting services, manage glacial lake outbursts, control floods, and support other disaster mitigation efforts.
