PM Narendra Modi calls all party meeting on 24 June over J&K assembly elections

Srinagar: There may be a major change in the state of Jammu and Kashmir. According to reports, PM Narendra Modi has convened a meeting of all political parties in Jammu and Kashmir on June 24. The meeting is likely to be attended by several Leaders of the Centre including Home Minister Amit Shah. The meeting is also expected to discuss holding assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir.

This is considered to be the first major initiative by the Centre to end the political stalemate in Jammu and Kashmir, nearly two years after section 370 was removed from Jammu and Kashmir in August 2019 and divided into two Union Territories. Leaders from both Jammu and Kashmir regions have been called to the meeting. According to media reports, the Centre has invited National Conference (NC) President and former CM Farooq Abdullah, PDP President and former CM Mehbooba Mufti, Jammu and Kashmir its party's Altaf Bukhari and People's Conference chief Sajjad Lone to the meeting.

BJP and Congress leaders from Jammu and Kashmir are also expected to attend the all party meeting. Mehbooba Mufti has confirmed that she received a call for the june 24 meeting. He said, "I haven't decided to go to the meeting yet. I will discuss with my party members and take a final decision."
