New Delhi: PM Modi reached Nyoma, about 25 km from Leh, on Friday morning without any information and pre-scheduled program to encourage the troops posted on the China border. PM Modi performed the Indus Darshan Pooja after reaching Neemu in the Forward Brigade in Ladakh. Chief of Defense Staff (CDS) General Bipin Rawat and Army Chief General Manoj Mukund Narwane were also present along with PM Modi during this period.
It is worth mentioning that after landing by the special aircraft of Air Force at Leh Airport at 7:00 am on Friday morning, PM Modi arrived directly at Nyoma in a helicopter. There the commanding officer of the Northern Command, Lt. Gen. Y. K. Joshi informed PM Modi about the ground situation regarding differences with China on the Line of Actual Control (LAC).
While Nyoma has an army brigade headquarters as well as battalion headquarters of several military regiments, the place is on the banks of the Indus River, which deals with the history of India. This is the reason why PM Modi was informed by the military commander on the banks of the Indus River. In the month of June or July every year, a fair of Sindhu Darshan is also organized, which was started by veteran BJP leader and former Deputy PM LK Advani in the nineties. However, this year the fair could not be organized due to Coronavirus.
