New Delhi: PM Narendra Modi on Saturday condoled the demise of veteran Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader C Janga Reddy, saying he was an integral part of efforts to take the BJP to new heights. Reddy was 86 years old. He died on Saturday morning in Hyderabad. Reddy was one of the two MPs who won the election on a BJP ticket in 1984. The second BJP MP to win was A K Patel. He won from Mehsana in Gujarat. In this election, former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee also suffered defeat.

Shri C Janga Reddy Garu devoted his life to public service. He was an integral part of the efforts to take the Jana Sangh and BJP to new heights of success. He made a place in the hearts and minds of several people. He also motivated many Karyakartas. Saddened by his demise.

Janga Reddy was associated with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) from the very beginning. In 1967, he became an MLA for the first time on a Jan Sangh ticket. After this, in 1978, he again contested and won the assembly elections on a Janata Party ticket. After the formation of the BJP in 1983, he contested the state elections on a BJP ticket and then won.
