The new Motor Vehicles Act has come into force in India from 1 September. However, it has not been implemented in many states like Punjab, West Bengal, and Rajasthan. The governments of these states say that the amount of traffic challan is too much in the new law, which will put a lot of burden on the common people. One of the biggest challenges for the central government is to convince the governments of these states. The Maharashtra government has refused to implement the new Motor Vehicle Act. In a letter written by Nitin Gadkari on behalf of the state government, it has been said that outrage may arise from the new law. According to the reports, the state government wants to cut the traffic challan. In such a situation, until there is no response from the central government, the new law will not be applicable. Also, the Government of Gujarat has reduced many penalties of traffic rules from 25% to 90%. On behalf of CM Vijay Rupani, it has been said to take this decision on humanitarian grounds. In such a situation, the opposition is surrounding the central government on this matter.
