New Delhi: PM Narendra Modi on Friday paid tributes to former PM and senior BJP leader Atal Bihari Vajpayee on his birth anniversary. In a tweet, PM Modi said Vajpayee's visionary leadership took the country to unprecedented heights of development. PM Modi wrote, "Salute former PM Respected Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ji on his birth anniversary. His efforts to build a strong and prosperous India will always be remembered." Vajpayee was born on December 25, 1924.

He was a founding member of the Jan Sangh and the BJP. He had an important role to play in taking the party to the pinnacle of success. In the 1990s, he emerged as the main face of the party and became the party-led government for the first time. During Vajpayee's tenure as PM, liberalisation was promoted in the country and infrastructure, development was speeded up.

At the same time, PM Narendra Modi greeted the people on Christmas on Friday and said that the life and principles of Lord Jesus give strength to millions of people all over the world. In a tweet, PM Modi wished that his (Christ) guidance shows the way to build an equitable and inclusive society.
