Ahmedabad: On the occasion of the 144th birth anniversary of the first Home Minister of independent India, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, PM Modi paid tribute to him. After paying tribute to the Iron Man at the Statue of Unity in Kevadia, Gujarat, PM Modi said  thet even today Sardar Patel's word has importance. The Statue of Unity provides energy and peace. This statue is a symbol of unity. Unity is the flow in which Indianness flows.

PM Modi further said that today the Run for Unity program is being celebrated in different cities and villages of the country. I want to express my gratitude to all the citizens who join it. India is recognized for unity in diversity. This is our pride and our identity. Celebrating the festival of unity of the country is our greatest strength. There is strength of unity in the constitution written by Ambedkar. Different languages, dialects and food are our hallmarks in the country.

The birth anniversary of Sardar Patel, the first home minister of the country, is celebrated as National Unity Day. A national unity parade was organized in Kevadia on this occasion. NSG, CRPF participated in it. PM Modi took salute of unity day parade. Along with this, PM Modi also administered the oath of unity and integrity to the people. On this occasion, Run for Unity is being organized across the country. Home Minister Amit Shah flagged off the event at the National Stadium in Delhi.
