New Delhi: Uproar in the Upper House of Parliament intensified. Angered by the behaviour of opposition MLAs, Deputy Chairman Harivansh announced a day's fast. Harivansh has written a letter to the President and the Vice President regarding this. Sharing this letter, PM Narendra Modi said that there must be truth in this.
PM Modi has written in his tweet that, "I read the letter written by Deputy Chairman to the Honorable President. Every word of the letter has given new hope to our faith in democracy. This letter is inspiring as well as admirable. There is truth and sensations in it. My request is, all citizens must read it". Harivansh wrote in his letter that, "The scene which took place in the Upper House on September 20 has caused unimaginable damage to the dignity of the House".
He wrote "There was violent behaviour in the name of democracy by honourable members of the House. There was an attempt to intimidate the person sitting on the pedestal. All the dignity and order of the Upper House were torn apart. Honourable members in the House tore the rule book, hurled it at me". Harivansh wrote at the beginning of his letter that, "For what happened in the Rajya Sabha, for the last two days I have been in deep heartburn and mental anguish. Could not sleep all night. I feel that I was treated disrespectfully, for that I should fast for a day. Perhaps it should awaken the sense of self-purification within the members."
PM Modi has tweeted praising the Deputy Chairperson "To personally serve tea to those who attacked and insulted him a few days ago as well as those sitting on Dharna shows that Shri Harivansh Ji has been blessed with a humble mind and a big heart. It shows his greatness. I join the people of India in congratulating Harivansh Ji".
