On Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will meet with G20 leaders to discuss the global economic situation, the COVID-19 pandemic, sustainable development, and climate change. Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla said at a press conference on Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Rome on Friday that the prime minister will participate in discussions with other G20 leaders.

"The Prime Minister will meet with other G20 leaders to discuss global economic and health recovery from the pandemic, as well as sustainable development and climate change," Shringla said. Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Italy on Friday for the two-day summit. On the sidelines of the G20 Summit, he is expected to hold several bilateral meetings. Modi stated in his departure statement that he will visit Rome and the Vatican City on the invitation of Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi from October 29 to October 31, and then travel to Glasgow, United Kingdom, from November 1-2 on the invitation of British Prime Minister Boris Johnson.

"I will attend the 16th G20 Leaders' Summit in Rome, where I will participate in discussions on global economic and health recovery from the pandemic, sustainable development, and climate change with other G20 leaders," Modi said, noting that this will be the G20's first in-person summit since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.
