New Delhi: PM Modi will inaugurate the 9.02 km long Atal Tunnel Rohtang of strategic importance on the Manali-Leh road today. PM Modi will land at Manali's Sasse Helipad in the morning, where Union Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and Chief Minister Jairam Thakur will welcome him. PM Modi will launch the tunnel by reaching South Portal at Dhundi by road. After passing through the tunnel, PM Modi will address 200 people of Lahaul on an island between the Chandra River near Sissu Lake in the North Portal.

PM Modi will land in Manali at 9:10 am, after which he will go to Sasse Guest House via road. South Portal will depart at 9:35 pm and the opening program will run from 10 am to 11:45 pm. At 11:50 PM Modi will reach the North Portal via the tunnel. Will address public meeting in Sisu from 12 to 12:45. Will reach Tunnel at Solanganala at 12:50 and talk to BJP leaders. Then at 2:05 pm Sasay will leave the helipad and leave for Chandigarh at 2:20 pm. He will fly from Chandigarh to Delhi at 3:40 pm and reach the capital at 4:30 pm.

Let me tell you that this tunnel has been prepared by penetrating the hill of Pir Panjal at a cost of 3300 crores and it is built on the highest highway in the world. Now the people of Lahaul will not be cut off from the rest of the world for six months due to snowfall in winter after the tunnel starts. With this route, the army will be able to reach Ladakh and the adjoining Kargil border with China.
